The following services are examples of what Sachs Family Dental can do for you!
Preventative care is an important part of our practice. Maintaining good oral hygiene is one of the most important things you can do for your teeth and gums. Healthy teeth not only enable you to look and feel good, they make it possible to eat and speak properly. Good oral health is important to your overall well-being. Promoting health through preventative dentistry and educating our patients on good oral hygiene is the key to a healthy mouth. Thorough routine examinations, cleanings, and x-rays allow us to identify any problem areas early and provide you with the quality dental care you deserve!
Metal amalgam fillings at one time were the best method for restoring teeth, however with modern science they have developed composite fillings that will actually match the color of your teeth and even last as long if not longer then the older metal amalgam fillings. Not only that, but metal amalgams can damage teeth. Like most metals, these fillings are temperature sensitive, and expand with heat and contract with cold. This movement weakens the tooth wall, leading to fractures, and also allows bacteria to enter causing decay. Tooth-colored composite fillings are a safe, strong, more attractive and more enduing alternative to metal.
Crowns offer a great restoration for cracked teeth, or those that have previously had root canals on them. Porcelain fused to Metal crowns offer the strength of the older metal crowns but the natural look of porcelain crowns, thereby giving you strength and aesthetics!!!
A bridge is a custom dental appliance that is anchored to adjacent teeth and replaces one or more missing teeth. When a lost tooth is replaced with a bridge, the teeth on either side of the missing one are prepared similar to crowns and serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic (replacement) tooth in place. Crowns and bridges are most commonly prepared from high quality materials such as semi-precious or precious metals, porcelain or a fused combination of the two. Bridges are a great way to replace missing teeth.
Porcelain veneers are a wonderful option to cover dark or yellow teeth, fill gaps, lengthen short teeth and even straighten teeth without the use of orthodontics. Porcelain veneers are also much more conservative in the removal of tooth structure than crowns. A thin layer of the front of the tooth is removed to allow porcelain to be bonded to the tooth without making it any thicker. The veneers are attached to the teeth using the most advanced methods of bonding techniques. The end result is a strong, functional, beautiful and natural looking smile!
Teeth whitening is the latest way to quickly change the look of your smile with out the use of dental surgery. If you are unhappy with the dull, yellowish shade of your teeth, teeth whitening may be for you! It is a safe, effective, and efficient way to dramatically improve your overall appearance. Dr Sachs can help you choose the most effective and convenient method of whitening for you. We offer in-office whitening as well as take-home kits. These processes can actually make your natural tooth color up to twelve shades brighter than it is right now!
In- Office
This procedure requires an appointment that last anywhere from 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours. The mouth is prepped to protect the tissues, and then a peroxide based chemical is placed on the teeth. A light (laser), is placed over the mouth that accelerates the whitening process. The assistants monitor the progress and periodically adjust the solution on the teeth to ensure proper whitening. This is a great option for people that need whitening results fast , or those that have experienced severe sensitivity with the trays.
Take Home
First, impressions are taken of the mouth, from these, molds are made that are custom to that patients mouth. This normally takes 2-3 days to fabricate. The trays are then given to the patient with tubes of prescription strength whitening gel. The patient then whitens at home, at their convenience for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, normally is takes about 2 weeks to achieve the desired shade. This is a great option for those patients that prefer more control over the shade of their teeth, or those who struggle with scheduling dental appointments.
With today's modern dental advances, having a root canal done by a dentist is no longer a scary experience. Dr. Sachs is experienced in completing a number of endodontic procedures. Extensive decay, an accident, tooth fracture or gum disease can kill teeth and cause symptoms such as pain or a dental abscess. Regardless of the cause, your teeth can be saved using modern therapy by doing a root canal treatment.
Bruxism is a condition where a person unknowingly clenches or grinds their teeth, whether that is at night, or during stressful periods during the day. Symptoms of this condition include, waking up in the morning with a sore or tired jaw, noticeable wear of teeth, consistent headaches, or neck pain. This condition can lead to severe dental problems, including grinding down the teeth to the gum line requiring extensive reconstruction. One way to prevent the condition from progressing to such a state is a mouthgaurd or nightgaurd. This is a mouthpiece that is worn on top of the teeth; it is a small acrylic device that prevents the wearing down of teeth and relaxes the jaw muscles. If you feel that you may be suffering from this condition talk to Dr. Sachs about your symptoms and he will be able to recommend the best course of action for your case.
Pain is not a pleasant thing to live with; that is why we make room in our schedule to make sure that patients in dental pain can see the dentist as soon as possible. Treatment in not always rendered at the emergency visits, but we do get the patient out of pain so they can go on with their lives until an appointment is available to complete the treatment.
Sachs Family Dental welcomes the whole family!! The assistants work hard to make sure that the child is comfortable and knowledgeable about the dentist, at their first visit. Dr.Sachs works patiently to assure the child and calm their anxieties. Sachs Family Dental is equipped to handle most situations that arise with pediatric dentistry. However, in situations that require a pediatric dentist, we have wonderful referrals that we are confident will carry on our mission to help children feel safe and happy.
Cosmetic Bonding presents several benefits, it is quick, affordable, relatively painless, and it can drastically improve your smile. Cosmetic (or Composite) Bonding is used for those patients that may have small gaps between front teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, or patients that want to whiten their smile with out the use of chemicals that are used to whiten teeth. The procedure involves roughing the surface of the tooth slightly to create “grip”, then a bond is applied to the tooth which acts as a “glue”, and then finally the composite is placed and shaped to create a beautiful smile.
Saving your own natural teeth is always the best option, they are stronger and the most compatible with the mouth, however, occasionally teeth can go beyond the point of saving, in which case the tooth would need to be extracted. With today's advanced technology, if a tooth must be extracted there are ways to replace the tooth with a beautiful restoration that is almost indistinguishable from your natural tooth.
WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTIONS
Frequently the 3rd molar, or wisdom tooth, requires extraction, either because the tooth will never erupt, there is extensive decay, or there are future problems that could arise with the teeth. Dr. Sachs strives to ensure that the extraction is done with care, requiring as little recovery as possible.
ORTHODONTIC EXTRACTIONS
Extractions are also used to prevent orthodontic problems in children. If their baby teeth do not fall out on their own, occasionally they will need to be extracted to ensure adequate space for their permanent teeth, and thereby avoid extensive dental work later on.
We understand there are people that are very anxious about the dentist, particularly when it comes to extractions, for those patients we do have several options available to help ease the anxiety they may have.
Screening for Oral cancer has become paramount in the dental field in recent years. As studies emerge, the dental community is finding that early detection is the key to survival. Those diagnosed with oral cancer only have an average of 41 % survival rate, this is normally due to detection in later stages. If the oral cancer is diagnosed in early stages the survival rate is 90%. (Inside dentistry: Jan 2007; Vol 3. Number 1. pg 46-54) Dr. Sachs performs regular screening at every 6 month check up. This involves checking the cheeks and tongue for any suspicious areas that may have discoloration, or strange patches.
